There are several types of lip lifts, but the sub nasal lift is the most common lip lifting procedure at the practice of board-certified Dr. Illich Navarro who specializes in facial, head, and neck treatments for cosmetic and reconstructive purposes. The subnasal lift reduces the distance between the upper lip and the bottom of the nose while elevating the top portion of the lip.
If you’re not pairing your lip lift with other procedures, only local anesthesia is needed to numb the area. The facial cosmetic surgeon then makes a small incision in the natural crease between the nose and lip. Next, the surgeon trims a small, curved strip of skin to lift the lip area and closes the wound with stitches, some of which dissolve on their own while others will need to be removed 5-7 days later.

The amount of skin removed will depend on your needs. We will remove anywhere between 5mm to 7mm of skin. Realistically, the amount is more likely to fall at the higher end of the range. As this is a cosmetic procedure, we will always keep within the safest range for each individual patient. Removing excessive amounts of skin results in prolonged healing times, which we know is not ideal for our patients.
Typical results will begin to show after about three weeks. You will be able to go about your daily life without any noticeable signs that you have had the procedure done. You will be provided with follow-up treatment to help reduce swelling and ensure that you are healing as expected.
